This week my popular culture article in on Serena Williams. As you can see I’m a sports fanatic, I think that no matter what the economic situation, sports can almost make you forget the craziness going on. When in the stadium or football field everyone there are alike old, young, no matter what or who you are you are there supporting you team in the sport you like. Serena Williams just received her 10th slam which allowed her to move back to number 1 on the ratings. In the article she tells reporters that she always bring a new outfit to the championship so that she can think positively when going into the game. The article expresses how Serena was struggling to get back to number one. In a couple of games her serve was not all that good but she was able to stay in the rankings. Congrats to her for not giving up and keeping a positive attitude when it comes to hero she could be admired.

  1. Good post, Diona, about Serena. I think fame and fortune got to her head which is why her performance fell off somewhat. She certainly did a great job of rebounding and I so admire people who keep going when they fall down. She is a great role model and inspiration to young girls.

  2. As it goes with sports I am not much of a fan of any sport at all. Although no matter what sport it is I love to see it live and not on television. I think that Serena became a little over confident and that is what happened to her game. She just needs to remember that we can all be defeated.
